An incorporated town in McLennan and Coryell counties in Texas, McGregor is also part of two different metropolitan areas. The smaller portion of the city in Coryell County is part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. In contrast, the McLennan County section is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is sixteen miles southwest of Waco on U.S. Highway 84.
McGregor was first known as McGregor Springs when it was established back in 1882. It was placed at the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe intersections and the Texas and St. Louis railways. The town was named in honor of Gregor Carmichael McGregor, a local doctor who had given the railroad the right-of-way to cross his land. Early advertisements for the area led to several people coming to the area so a state land commissioner could sell lots at auction from the back of a railroad flatcar. By 1884, it was a bustling town full of hundreds of people.
The area is known for its local ranches and the Waco Downtown Farmers Market, a very accessible place to visit from McGregor. Most who come to the area find that the local Blue Hills Ranch is always worth going to, featuring giraffes and various other animals, as it is technically a zoo. Tonkawa Falls Park is a city full of waterfalls and a river, great for a day trip or a place for the entire family to enjoy.

The Prime Asphalt guys were fast, efficient, and did a great job for a lower price than other companies had quoted for less work. We had a lot of loose rock on both flat and sloped driveway areas from a previous not-properly-executed chip seal job. Everybody’s tires would slip on the sloped area before, and rocks would fly. But now there’s no more skidding, and it’s so much quieter! They also installed asphalt on the steeper route down to our new barn where the trucks kept getting stuck. Being able to get around the property easily is a big relief. We’re super happy with the work.
