All About Hewitt TX
One of the great cities of McLennan County, TX, Hewitt is the second largest city in the county. It is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is at Farm Road’s 2073 and 1695 intersection, about eight miles southwest of Waco in south central McLennan County.
It was established in 1882 when the Missouri, Kansas, and Texas Railroad built the track section between Hillsboro and Taylor. It was named for George A. Hewitt, a railroad director. In 1884, a post office opened in Hewitt, Thomas J. McMurray being the postmaster. By the 1890s, it had its grocery, gristmill, cotton gin, and nearly 100 residents. The town was incorporated in 1960 due to a local vote, which spurred it on to become the fastest-growing community in the county.

The Prime Asphalt guys were fast, efficient, and did a great job for a lower price than other companies had quoted for less work. We had a lot of loose rock on both flat and sloped driveway areas from a previous not-properly-executed chip seal job. Everybody’s tires would slip on the sloped area before, and rocks would fly. But now there’s no more skidding, and it’s so much quieter! They also installed asphalt on the steeper route down to our new barn where the trucks kept getting stuck. Being able to get around the property easily is a big relief. We’re super happy with the work.
